Data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics indicates that career prospects for professionals in human resource management are steadily increasing. To prepare our students for opportunities in this discipline, Rutgers School of Business–Camden (RSBC) will offer a B.S. in Human Resource Management (HRM), starting in Fall 2023. Through this new major, students will gain knowledge and skills to balance strategic and efficient management of people to deliver organizational competitiveness and mitigate risks.
RSBC’s HRM curriculum will be aligned with the Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM). This means that the school’s HRM courses will cover the SHRM Body of Applied Skills and KnowledgeTM (SHRM BASK), including behavioral and technical competencies in leadership, people management, interpersonal engagement in the workplace, work and compensation design, and organizational development. As a professional discipline, students can obtain additional human resource management credentials to signal their expertise in the field by passing human resource management certification exams such as those offered by the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) and the Human Resources Certification Institute (HRCI). HRM majors at RSBC will be encouraged to take the certification examinations for which they meet the eligibility criteria.
