- Company: Rita's Italian Ice
In this alumni spotlight, we’re thrilled to feature Katie Loesch, a shining example of perseverance and entrepreneurial spirit. Katie’s journey from student to successful business owner exemplifies the transformative power of education and determination.
Katie’s decision to attend the Rutgers School of Business–Camden (RSBC) was driven by her desire to remain local while pursuing her degree. With a keen interest in business and a need for flexible class schedules to accommodate her full-time job, RSBC was the perfect fit. While juggling full-time classes, Katie managed operations and marketing for three Rita’s Italian Ice locations. Post-graduation, she seized an opportunity to purchase these very locations, leveraging her background in marketing and corporate training to navigate the challenges of business ownership.
Despite being a young female entrepreneur in male-dominated industries, Katie’s assertiveness and resilience propelled her forward. Now celebrating a decade of ownership, she reflects on the personal and professional growth she’s experienced along the way. From paying off initial financing to starting a family, Katie’s journey embodies the rewards of perseverance and passion.
What sets Katie apart is her commitment to community and fostering opportunities for young talent. Through Rita’s, she provides employment opportunities for high school and college students. For Katie, entrepreneurship isn’t just about profits; it’s about making a positive impact on those around her.
As she celebrates this milestone, Katie credits RSBC for laying the foundation of her success. The education, support, and connections she gained have been invaluable throughout her journey. From classroom lessons to real-world applications, RSBC equipped Katie with the tools and confidence to thrive in the competitive world of business ownership.
Congratulations, Katie, on 10 incredible years of success! Here’s to many more milestones ahead.
