Dr. Jose Beltran, assistant professor of human resources and organizational behavior at the Rutgers School of Business–Camden, brings a deeply personal sense of purpose to his work as a scholar, mentor, and advocate for underrepresented students.
Named one of Front Runner New Jersey’s 2025 “30 Under 40 Top Latino Leaders of South Jersey,” Beltran joined Rutgers–Camden in 2023 after earning his Ph.D. from Iowa State University. His research explores strategic leadership, generative AI, and big-data applications in management.
Beltran’s path to academia was shaped by his grandmother, Antonia, whose unwavering belief in the power of education inspired him to pursue advanced degrees and eventually discover a calling in higher education through The PhD Project. Even after pausing his ambitions to care for her during her final years, Beltran returned to academia with renewed purpose—dedicating his career to supporting students the way mentors once supported him.
Today, he remains active in initiatives that expand access to higher education, including The PhD Project, La Familia Management Scholars, and student-led programs at Rutgers–Camden. He encourages students to seek mentorship, build connections, and believe in the possibilities ahead of them.
