The 6th edition of Invest: New Jersey is now available and features Monica Adya, Dean of the Rutgers School of Business–Camden, sharing insights on the evolving value of higher education and how institutions must continue to demonstrate relevance for today’s students.
In the interview, Dean Adya highlights recent accomplishments at Rutgers–Camden, including the launch of the fully online Master of Finance with a concentration in Financial Planning. She notes that Rutgers is one of only 20 programs nationwide dedicated specifically to financial planning, reflecting the School’s commitment to meeting workforce demand.
Dean Adya also discusses how the Rutgers School of Business–Camden actively engages with the business community through advisory boards made up of alumni and industry professionals, as well as strong partnerships with employers that support internships and recruiting efforts. These collaborations help ensure that the curriculum remains aligned with real-world skills and industry needs.
Supporting women in business and technology is another key focus. The School partners with SheTek, a nonprofit organization offering a two-part AI workshop series to advance women in tech, and supports student engagement through organizations such as Women in Business.
With enrollment continuing to grow across undergraduate and graduate programs, the School remains responsive to student interests. Recent initiatives include the launch of an undergraduate minor in real estate, developed in direct response to student demand.
As a public university, Rutgers–Camden offers a competitive cost and strong long-term value. Dean Adya emphasizes that as higher education continues to evolve, innovation is essential—but the core mission remains the same: educating people in meaningful, engaging ways that deliver lasting value. With this approach, she believes Rutgers is well positioned for the future.
