Shy Yi, Assistant Dean at the Rutgers School of BusinessโCamden, is dedicated to empowering students and fostering their academic and personal growth. She recently helped launch the Business Honors Program in Fall 2024, offering top-tier students an enriched, rigorous business education. Shy also manages the Biz-Ed Program, a six-week initiative where Rutgers faculty and students collaborate with local high schools to teach aspiring young entrepreneurs. As a member of the SEED (Student Engagement, Empowerment, and Development) team, she works to enhance student experiences and build community on campus.
A proud three-time Rutgers alumna, Shy holds masterโs degrees in Social Work and Education. With over 20 years of higher education experience, she has expertise in financial aid, student retention, and supporting students holistically through academic and personal challenges. Her work focuses on promoting self-efficacy, lifelong learning, and global citizenship, equipping students with the tools to thrive in all aspects of life.
Shyโs career highlights include first-generation student support, leadership development, and major initiatives, like institutional mergers and system implementations. Through mentoring and advising, she emphasizes soft skills, financial literacy, entrepreneurship, and personal well-being.
Beyond work, Shy is an avid snowboarder eager to share the sport with her young son. She also enjoys cooking a variety of global cuisines, showcasing her love for culture and creativity.
