Online MAcc Student Highlight: Ngan Nguyen

As a full-time Research Accountant, parent, and graduate student, Ngan Nguyen understands the importance of discipline, perseverance, and effective time management. Currently pursuing her Online Master of Accountancy (MAcc) at Rutgers School of BusinessโCamden, Nguyen is proving that it is possible to excel academically while balancing professional and personal responsibilities.
Originally from Vietnam and expected to graduate in Spring 2027, Nguyen chose Rutgers School of BusinessโCamden because of its strong reputation, affordability, and the flexibility offered by its online format.
โI wanted to strengthen my accounting knowledge and develop skills that would support my long-term career growth,โ she said. โThe program allows me to balance my education, career, and family responsibilities while pursuing my academic goals.โ
Balancing graduate school, a full-time career in research administration and grants management, and family life has not been without challenges. However, Nguyen has remained focused on her goals and has maintained a 4.0 GPA throughout the program.
โOne of my biggest challenges has been balancing graduate school, a full-time career as a Research Accountant, and family responsibilities as a parent,โ she said. โStaying disciplined and managing my time effectively allowed me to remain focused on my goals.โ
To stay organized, Nguyen relies on careful planning and realistic priorities. She credits the flexibility of RutgersโCamdenโs asynchronous online courses with helping her successfully manage competing responsibilities.
โMy advice is to stay organized, plan ahead, and set realistic priorities,โ she said. โIt is also important to ask for help when needed and remember to make time for family and self-care.โ
Although she studies remotely, Nguyen has found a strong sense of support within the RutgersโCamden community. She appreciates the encouragement she has received from faculty and staff throughout her academic journey.
โMy professors have been responsive and invested in student success, creating a positive learning environment,โ she said. โTheir guidance has helped me grow academically and professionally while balancing work and family responsibilities.โ
Looking ahead, Nguyen plans to continue advancing her career in research administration, financial management, and higher education. She is also considering pursuing a Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) or a Ph.D. in Education or Psychology to further expand her leadership skills and expertise.
Beyond her professional aspirations, Nguyen hopes to set an example for her children.
โI hope to continue being a role model for my children by demonstrating the value of lifelong learning, perseverance, and personal growth,โ she said.
