ACADEMIC COURSEWORK REQUIREMENTS
Business Honors students are strongly encouraged to take as many Business Honors sections of their core courses as possible. The minimal academic requirements to receive Business Honors are outlined below.

At least 6 Business Honors sections of core business courses
- NOTE: Students will be pre-registered for Business Honors sections of core business courses to ensure completion of this requirement. However, they can waive participation in some Business Honors sections of core business courses due to conflicts, by completing the Course Enrollment Waiver Form.
- Cohort-based experiential learning
- Impactful assignments that promote critical and insightful thinking
- Guest speakers and corporate engagement
- Assignments to build your job interview portfolio

At least 1 Business Honors approved elective offered by the School of Business–Camden or by Honors College
- Small class sizes with excellent professors

ACADEMIC EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Students are required to complete TWO semesters of academic experience requirements. Some experiences may be a semester long, so completion of two will be required. Some experiences may cover two semesters, so only one is required. We encourage students to discuss their options with the Business Honors staff.
Some examples include:
- Honors thesis
- Completion of a minor or academic certificate program
- Completion of a second major
- Publish an article in a peer-reviewed academic journal
- Long- or short-term study abroad
- Academic research/independent study
- Internship
- Completion of graduate-level courses
- Participation in a business case competition outside of your courses
- Publish work in the Undergraduate Review or other campus publications
- Present work at academic conferences
ENGAGEMENT REQUIREMENTS
Business Honors Engagement (per year)
Business Honors Students must complete at minimum 5 engagement requirements organized by either the Business Honors program or the School of Business–Camden. We are using RCommunity (rutgers.givepulse.com), Canvas Business Honors site, and email communications to promote Business Honors Engagement opportunities. Please make sure to sign-up and add them to the Tracking Form. Failure to complete your Business Honors engagement requirements on an annual basis will result in Business Honors de-enrollment.
Some examples of Business Honors engagement requirements include:
- Professional networking panels
- Professional workshops
- Alumni mixer events
- Corporate visits and day trips
- Business Outlook and Southern New Jersey Chamber events
- BizEd presentations
- Campus drives
- Fundraising
ADMISSIONS
- Students are admitted to Business Honors upon their entry to Rutgers University–Camden (either as first years or transfers).
- Some students may be invited to join Business Honors as rising sophomores if they:
- Have a GPA of 3.50 or higher
- Have earned a minimum of 25 but not more than 45 credits
- Do not have more than one W (Withdrawal) on their transcript
GRADUATION WITH BUSINESS HONORS
To graduate with Business Honors, students must fulfill all Business Honors requirements.Welcome from the Director of the Business Honors Program
Stimulating ideas, experiential learning, professional networking, leadership skills, and societal impact locally and globally – this is just a glimpse into what our Business Honors journey entails. Our Business Honors program provides students with all the benefits of a small, close-knit community of some of our most accomplished students on campus. Our Business Honors students have enough flexibility in pursuing their own path of business education, while working as a cohort and building a sense of engaged community in their Business Honors core and elective courses and engagement opportunities.
At the end of your Business Honors journey, you can expect to have a solid job interview portfolio, comprised of unique experiential learning course projects, various skill sets, and professional experiences. You will also be a part of our very engaged alumni community. Importantly, as catalysts of transformation, our Business Honors students provide inspiring social impact for the years to come beyond their college years and serve as leaders of the 21st century new business models.
