Business Leader Development Program Code of Conduct

Seminar: The BLDP seminar is my first-step in the program. While BLDP seminars are pass/no credit at present, the work is graded and scored just like a conventional class. Regular attendance and participation are of paramount importance given the nature of the program. As a member of BLDP, I will:
1. Attend the seminar regularly (one absence allowed with make-up assignment).
2. Arrive on time for the seminar unless prior arrangements have been made.
3. Be aware of all seminar policies and responsibilities as outlined in the course syllabus.
4. _______ Actively participate in each class session.
5. Conduct myself professionally with all executive speakers and on all field trips.
6. Send thank you notes as assigned to our guest executives.
Shadowing: The Executive Shadowing Program matches you with an executive to spend time with, learning about their career. If I apply and am selected for this program, I will:
1. Initiate contact with my executive and schedule a mutually-acceptable time.
2. Follow through with my appointment as scheduled.
3. Contact the BLDP Director immediately with any problems or questions.
4. Follow through with thank you notes and a summary submitted to the Director.
Representing BLDP and the School of Business: As a BLDP member, you may volunteer to represent the BLDP, the School of Business, and/or our campus at various events. If participating, I will:
1. Conduct myself professionally at all times.
2. Prepare for speaking in advance and share accurate information with the audience.
3. Arrive on time and be appropriately dressed.
4. Speak respectfully and factually without bias or misrepresentation.
BLDP Events and Attendance: BLDP offers many events such as workshops, executive lunches, and other networking activities. If I sign up, I will:
1. Arrive at the event on-time.
2. Cancel in advance if unable to attend.
Professionalism: BLDP members are expected to exhibit professionalism on campus and in the business world. As a member of BLDP, I will:
1. Adhere to best practices regarding social media use (e.g. no inflammatory posts).
2. Maintain a positive presence on LinkedIn (if applicable).
3. Act courteously and professionally in your role as a BLDP member.

Business Leader Development Program (BLDP)

BLDP Application

The Spring 2023 Application is now open!

Priority will be given to applications received by November 18. Applications are accepted until all seats are filled. Space is limited, so apply early!

The seminar application process is our gateway for entry into the program. Upon acceptance into BLDP, students will be emailed their acceptance letter plus a special permission number allowing registration for the BLDP seminar.

Requirements

Seminar applications are solicited each semester and require the following:

Completed application form (at the bottom of this page),
For students with GPA 3.0 – 3.49, two (2) letters of recommendation (one academic; one other)

Rutgers-Camden students are invited to apply to apply for enrollment in the BLDP seminar. All applicants are expected to meet both of the following selection criteria: (1) have sophomore standing or above and (2) have an overall GPA of 3.0 or above. First-semester transfer students will be evaluated based on their GPA earned at Rutgers. Students who fail to meet these admission criteria may still be allowed to apply for (and possibly enroll in) the BLDP seminar, but they will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.

The director balances evaluations to make final decisions on people accepted for the seminar (up to a maximum of 15-20 each semester).

Students who are admitted to the BDLP are required to adopt the BLDP Code of Conduct. A signed contract is required from each student.

Students may count activities toward “leadership units” that were initiated prior to taking a seminar, as long as those activities occured primarily during their enrollment in their academic program.
